(That, or someone placed the call for you and you'll be a little surprised with the arrival's knock on your door.) Either way, the night is paid for in advance and the courtesan is there to pleasure you in any ways you can think of -- and for the amount of money you've paid, there is no safe word.

The Hit Have you ever felt like someone was watching you? Have you ever felt a predator's eyes upon your throat? Well, tonight you will. Wherever you are, there's a slender figure approaching you with a smile and a drink. Surely this can only end well.

Time Off As rare as the occasion is, it's a day off work! This is a day for meeting up with friends and strangers who will become new friends. A tea shop, a book store, the park? Today you'll be meeting up with Gale for a day of relaxation and fun.

[He takes a moment to consider this and decides against it since he was escorted to this door.]

You are Jin Kisaragi?

[brovarice]

[ There's a pause, as if he's considering denying it. Of course to deny it would be cowardly and also unnecessary. His eyes narrow a little, lips pursed in thought before he answers. ]

I am.

[blissfulignorance]

[He inclines his head slightly.]

Then I truly am at your service this night.

[brovarice]

[ He tries a look of full disdain. Clearly that would be enough for this person to get the hint, right? ]

I said there's been a mistake.

[blissfulignorance]

[And understanding hits at least as to why he was given a particular note for "when he's reluctant..." Gale pulls it from a pocket and presents it to him. It's on high quality paper with an unbroken wax seal with a crest that should be familiar to Jin. He offers it quietly.

If and when he takes it, he'll find a succinct but pointed note about the grave political insult that will be inferred should he refuse this gift.

Apparently Jin's got great friends.]

[brovarice]

[ There's only a hair of surprise -- he takes the note and reads it. His face remains fairly apathetic. This kind of thing doesn't interest him at all and honestly the political vying and jostling that people did wasn't something he cared about. Honestly, positions and power and all of that. . . but he does step back from the door and wave a hand ]

Come in.

[blissfulignorance]

[He inclines his head again and steps lightly into the room. He turns to study Jin for the first time.]

You are displeased that I was sent?

[brovarice]

I'm annoyed.

[ His tone is carefully neutral and even his expression doesn't seem that annoyed. He shuts the door behind Gale. ]

This has been a prank, it seems.

[blissfulignorance]

[Closing his eyes, Gale lowers his head slightly.]

I apologize then, and I would ask that you do not think that I am the one at fault. I was asked to be at your service this night, and I do so gladly. Once I have entered into your domain, however, I no longer serve the one who paid for my time, but I am yours exclusively to do with as you wish until midday tomorrow.

Please use me as you see fit.

[ another eyebrow raise

Someone had wasted a lot of money on a ridiculous prank and now Jin was stuck with this. . . . . . for such a long time. He sighed, it was quiet but exasperated nonetheless. ]

Make yourself comfortable.

[blissfulignorance]

[He hesitates, glancing up at Jin's face trying to get a feel for the meaning of his words. Finally he moves over to a couch, settling onto the edge of it, clearly not at ease just yet, but waiting for Jin's reaction.]

[brovarice]

[ Jin decides to completely ignore him then. He moves through the living room into the kitchen to put on a kettle to boil water. ]

[blissfulignorance]

[He stays quiet for a moment before standing and following him to the kitchen, stopping in the doorway.]

I would do that for you.

[brovarice]

[ There's another pause -- Jin could just ignore Gale if he wanted. He was pretty good at ignoring people but he'd also trained himself out of that, being more social-able after all was a useful trait. ]

I don't need you to.

[blissfulignorance]

I realize you are capable. [He smiles slightly.] I simply wish to make things more pleasant for you for a night.

[brovarice]

I decline.

[blissfulignorance]

[He sighs softly and nods, but he remains in the doorway to watch Jin.]

You see me only as an inconvenience then?

[brovarice]

Isn't that a little cruel to assume?

[ but he doesn't deny it and in fact turns back to the task of making tea -- without offering any or acknowledging Gale. ]

[blissfulignorance]

[He's quiet for a while watching him.]

Is it?

[brovarice]

[ Pours the hot water into the tea pot, looking down at it before answering ]

You should really just go.

[blissfulignorance]

I cannot.

[brovarice]

Couldn't I pay you to leave?

[blissfulignorance]

[Now that's a little cruel.]

No.

[brovarice]

[ He seems marginally put out by that, reaching into the cabinet for a cup -- and as an afterthought: ]

. . . do you want some tea?

[blissfulignorance]
